Deana Holbrook & Freeman Robertson

Our Story

Freeman and I met about 4 years ago. Unfortunately, we were both in serious relationships at the time. Then, last Thanksgiving, I was sitting at home with the family and everyone started to doze off after a long day of eating. My sister-in-law mentioned a karaoke contest where they would give away a car... After much cohersion we conned my brother into going as well. The night was going great we were all singing and having a good time.
Soon, Kayla, my sister-in-law, mentioned that Freeman was talking to her about trying to talk to me. It was really like "check yes or no" sweet. We started to talk and hung out most of the evening. The next week he called and invited me to his company christmas party. Sort of a weird first date but I went and we had so much fun.
We started to hang out more and more... Soon he took me to Charlotte for a concert...again we had a blast... Now I have to tell you, I knew then this was the man I wanted to marry and spend my life with.
Yep, you guessed it, I said I love you first. He was so sweet. He said he wanted to tell me too but felt like it was too soon. Things just fell into place for us. I don't know how to describe other than we just knew.
In March we made a trip to Lexington and he was looking at a few rings but I never imagined that he would get one. It took him 3 days to give it to me. He was teasing me, asking "what would you do if I had a ring in my pocket." I would snidely reply, "nothing because I know you don't." That night, he continued to tease me about having a ring. Finally he asked if I would try it on. I shook my hand and pulled it away from him, still in disbelief he had a ring at all. So he grabbed my hand and ask me again to try "this one" on. I was surprised and shocked. I didn't know what to say. He picked out a beautiful solitaire radiant cut just over a carat.
We knew we didn't want to wait until the spring so we picked a date in the fall. September 12, 2009 and it is approaching fast!
